Obituary of Steven R. Larson

Steven R. Larson, 55, of 49 Case Ave. Lakewood, died Friday (April 30, 2010) in his home, following a brief illness. He was born December 18, 1954 in Jamestown the son of Reynold O. and Elaine M. Samuelson Larson. Steve was a 1973 graduate of Southwestern Central High School where he was the quarterback for the football team, played basketball, and ran track. For a number of years, he held many SWCS sports records. He attended Edinboro University on a full football scholarship, playing tight end and graduating in 1977 with a degree in business. From 1978 until 1985, he worked for John Goodell in his law office, doing real estate and estate work. From 1986 until 1996, he worked at Lemac Packaging Co. In 1997, he joined North American Energy in Jamestown where he was currently working. In 2006, he also earned his real estate license, and was currently a real estate agent with Century 21. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and a past member of the Vikings. Steve had a passion for sports. Whether it was playing, watching, coaching his kids soccer or basketball teams, or coordinating the Southwestern summer soccer leagues, he was always there to help his kids or any kids who needed help. His family noted that his frustration toward referees seemed to improve over the years. He was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by our family, but we know he has entered through the gates of heaven and will be in our hearts forever. Surviving besides his mother of West Ellicott are, his wife, Kimberly Anderson Larson whom he married June 10, 1978; two daughters, Patricia "Tricia" Larson; Aileen "Ali" Larson; a son, S. Fletcher Larson; all of Lakewood; three sisters, Becky (David) Holmstrom of Celoron; Christine (Tony) Sanfilippo of Jamestown; Janice (Tim) Covey of Ashville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on August 10, 2007. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 8, 2010 in Praise Fellowship, Route 62, Russell, PA (next to the Russell Roller Rink). Pastor Rick Rohlin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday May 6, and from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday May 7, in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750; or the Southwestern Central School or Jamestown Public School Sports Booster Club of your choice.
