Obituary of Lois N. Swanson

Lois N. Swanson, 88, formerly of 1 Hazel Avenue, died Saturday May 8, 2010, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A Jamestown native, she was born February 26, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Anna Carlson Nelson. She was a1940 graduate of Jamestown High School serving as accompanist the school's A Cappella Choir from 1939-40. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Jamestown Public School System at C.C. Ring Elementary School as a library assistant. She earlier had worked for Malleable Iron. She was a member of the former Epworth Christ United Methodist Church which later became Christ First United Methodist Church. She was also a life member of C.C. Ring PTA. She enjoyed sketching and playing the piano and organ at a number of area churches including participating in over 40 weddings. Surviving are her husband Myles D. Swanson whom she married November 19, 1949 in Epworth Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Lund and Bensinger officiating. Additional survivors include two sons Dr. John Swanson of Cairo, Egypt and Thomas Swanson of Orange City, FL; two nieces and two nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers Arthur, Harold and Gordon Nelson. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Chapel of Christ First United Methodist Church. Rev. Douglas M. Knopp will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
