Obituary of Bonnelyn Anne Carlson

Bonnelyn "Anne" Carlson, 74, of 211 Palmer St., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, March 21, 2010, in WCA Hospital after a brief illness. She was born April 20, 1935, in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Lillian Gunnell Lamberson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert I.F. Carlson, whom she married May 17, 1957 and who died January 18, 1997. She graduated from Southwestern Central School in 1953 and WCA Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. Through the years she provided loving care while employed at WCA and Jamestown General Hospitals, Fenton Park Nursing Home, Visiting Nurses Association and most recently as a school nurse with the Jamestown Public Schools, retiring in June 1997. Following retirement she worked occasionally at The Calico Cat. She was also a member of the Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild and The Westfield Quilt Guild. She was an active member of Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church. Some of her church activities included serving as a deaconess, choir member, Co-director of Children's Choir, Vacation Bible School, Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader. She was willing to serve wherever there was a need. She knew how to enjoy life and left a legacy of love to her family, friends and acquaintances by ministering to all, freely giving of her time and many talents. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and took great pleasure in attending their numerous activities. Surviving are three children Bonnie (Dan) Swanson of Lakewood, Birgit (Bruce) Hanson of Ashville and Nathaniel "Nat" (Michelle) Carlson of Jamestown, seven grandchildren Elizabeth "Lissa" (Jay) Yanak of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel Swanson of Lakewood, Kirsten, Karl and Hallie Hanson, all of Ashville and Natalie and Nicole Carlson both of Jamestown and a sister Elaine (Joseph) Hopkins of Elizabethton, TN. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church. Rev. Brian Haight will officiate. Burial will be in Mission Cemetery, Sugar Grove. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
