Obituary of Ralph S. Bender

Ralph S. "Bud" Bender, 74, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing facility, formerly of Tanglewood Manor and Charlotte, NC, died at 9:08 a.m. Thursday (January 7, 2010) in WCA Hospital. He was born January 10, 1935 in Jamestown the son of the late Ralph A. and Linnea Seagren Bender. Ralph was a graduate of Jamestown High School where he played football. Prior to retirement, he worked as a sales representative at Ralph A. Bender Associates in Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer, recording 13 hole in ones over the years. Ralph especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are three sons, Matt Bender of Charleston, SC; Scott Bender of Asheville, NC; Paul (Audra) Bender of Charlotte, NC; two grandsons, Cade and Sutton; three sisters, Patricia Johnson of FL; Karen Warner of Huntsville, AL; Kay Ross of Alpharetta, GA; a brother, Chuck Bender of Cookeville, TN; and his former wife, Joan Bender Ingram. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald C. Bender. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
