Obituary of Harold E. Umstead

Harold E. Umstead, 81, died at 12:15 p.m. Monday (July 20, 2009) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born September 5, 1927 in Butler, PA the son of James W. and Mildred Lewis Umstead. Harold was a truck and bus driver for many years, retiring from Wayne Works in Indiana. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, and a former member or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Eagles. Surviving are his son, Steven (Susan) Umstead of Lockport, NY; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Umstead of Perrysburg, NY; and his son in law, Casper Goodrich of Panama. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Umstead whom he married July 4, 1949 and who died July 14, 1985; his second wife, Gladys Umstead whom he married in 1987 and who died in 2006; a son, John Hillman in 1999; a daughter, Patricia Hillman Goodrich in 2007; and two sisters. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Keith McEntire will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, PA.
