Obituary of Aldor G. Anderson

Aldor G. Anderson, 83, of 3591 Woodhaven Drive, W.E. passed away at 7:18 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born January 17, 1932 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Herbert and Greta Anderson Anderson. Aldor was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from May 27, 1952 to May 26, 1956 during the Korean War. During his tour of duty he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Before his retirement years, he was employed by the former Art Metal Inc. where he worked from 1958-1970 and was a union leader representative for several years. He also was the club manager for the Thule Lodge # 127 VASA Order of America from 1975 to 1988 and retired in 1988 as a sales manager with Universal Manufacturing Company. He was an active member and Past President of the Chautauqua County Club Associates, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, where he served as club President in 1990, the Thule Lodge and the Ingjald Lodge # 65 Independent Order of the Vikings. He also volunteered for several veterans and fraternal organizations and at W.C.A. Hospital where he volunteered for 25 years and also served as a committee member for the Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series. He enjoyed his many trips to the casino and playing cards with his many friends at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. In earlier years he was an avid bowler. Aldor's family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Grove and Heritage Park for their wonderful and compassionate care shown to him during this difficult time. Surviving are two son, Bernard (Nancy) Anderson, William (Kathleen) Anderson both of Jamestown, a daughter, Valerie Brooks of Holly Springs, NC, six grandchildren, Karla (Ricky) Gonzalez, Kristen (Jesse) Milne, Conner Anderson, Derek Anderson all of Jamestown, Kaylee Brooks, Kyle Brooks both of Holly Springs, NC, five great grandchildren, Kameron and Karson Milne, Dominic, Noah and Blake Gonzalez all of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice "Sally" Zdunski Anderson whom he married May 3, 1958 and who died July 5, 1984. The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Haglund, Chaplain of Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
