Obituary of Bernice L. Brolin

Bernice L. Brolin, 88, of 452 South Main St., Jamestown passed away on Thursday, August, 27, 2015, in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 3, 1927 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Carl and Alice Anderson Brolin. She was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School and had attended Syracuse University. Before her retirement she was an office worker and researcher for the James Prendergast Free Library for many years. She was a longtime active member of the First Covenant Church where she participated in the New Life Circle and volunteered whenever she was able. She also drove several people to church and enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends every Sunday. Bernice was an animal lover and especially loved her cats, Mickey and Corky. Surviving are her cousins, Donna (Ed) Hale of Russell, PA, Richard (Eleanor) Young of Harborcreek, PA, Sherwood Young of Greenhurst, NY, Carol Ann (Karl) Speltz of Spokane, WA, her cherished neighbor and good friend, Lorraine Melice as well as several other second cousins and extended family. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her cousins, Lois Parker and Joyce Benezra, who were like sisters to Bernice. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor and Mr. David Larson, retired director of visitation will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
