Obituary of Roy E. Hitchcock

Roy E. Hitchcock, 72, of 1134 Fairbanks Rd., Russell, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 24, 2016 while in Warren General Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon Arnold Hitchcock whom he married November 21, 1964. Roy was born May 26, 1943 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Willard and Edith Morrison Hitchcock. He had been employed by Osram Sylvania in Warren for many years. Roy was an active member of Jamestown Community Chapel and also belonged to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, and was known as a great storyteller. In addition to his wife, surviving are three sons: Robert (Alba) Hitchcock of Dayton, Ohio, Gregory (Jennifer) Hitchcock of Russell, Pa. and Shawn (Michelle) Hitchcock of Lander, Pa.; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Hitchcock and Ellen Hitchcock; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Roy was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Rogerson and Betty Johnson; three brothers, Belmer, Stanley and Ford Hitchcock; and a granddaughter, McKenzie Allen. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27th in the Jamestown Community Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Keefe will officiate. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery, Lander, Pa. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26th in the Lind Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the service in the church Wednesday.
