Obituary of Richard D. Thor

Richard D. Thor, 88, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday April 26, 2016 in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born April 9, 1928 in Jamestown the son of the late Ture C. and Lillian Frankson Thor. Richard worked at Dahlstrom Manufacturing for many years, retiring as Chief Engineer. He was an active member of the Frewsburg Alliance Church, serving as treasurer and as a Deacon for many years. He also taught a cell group at church and in his home. Richard loved being around people, and enjoyed camping and photography. His church and his family were most important to him. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Alger Thor; two sons, Richard B. (Donna) Thor and David W. (Valerie) Thor both of Busti; two daughters, Robin D. (Rich) Cook of Pinckney, MI; Dianna J. Thor of Tucson, AZ; five step children, Brenda Crouse of Jamestown; Cheryl Clark of Ohio; David Gustafson of Jamestown; Faith Silvis of Sugar Grove; Gloria Genberg of Jamestown; three sisters, Shirley Campbell of Michigan; Bess Anderson of Jamestown; and Sandra West of Arizona. Richard was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday May 6, 2016 in the Frewsburg Alliance Church. The Rev. Marc A. Samworth, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Friday in the church.
