Obituary of Arthur R. Osborne

Arthur R. Osborne, 87, of 714 Panama-Bear Lake Rd., Panama, NY, passed away at 7:19 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in his home following a lengthy illness. A Panama resident for his entire life, he was born on September 30, 1928, in the family home where he also passed away, a son of the late Carrey Leon and Harriett Isabel Ransom Osborne. He was a graduate of Panama High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War from serving from January 21, 1952 to January 20, 1954 and also served in the Army Reserves where he was discharged in July of 1960. Art had been employed by the Weber-Knapp Company for 30 years retiring in 1988 as a foreman in the new products division. He and his family also owned and operated a beef farm for many years. He was a long time active member of the Panama United Methodist Church where he also served as church custodian for 40 years and a life member of the Panama Fire Department, serving the department for over 45 years. He was also a member of the Chautauqua County Beef Producers Association. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who could fix anything and was known as a "jack of all trades". He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and golfing. In earlier years he played with the Jamestown Old Timers Baseball Team and was a coach for the Town of Harmony Little League. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Jeanette Bridges Osborne whom he married April 19, 1953, a daughter, Paula (Peter) Komarek, a son, Joseph (Kelly) Osborne both of Panama, five grandchildren, Jonathan (Jessica) Komarek of Hudson, NH, Matthew (Amanda) Komarek of Fremont, NH, Bradley (Shirley) Osborne of King of Prusia, PA, Corey Osborne of Jamestown, Sarah Osborne of Panama, four great grandchildren, Mason Komarek, Elena Komarek, Harrison Osborne, Claire Osborne and a brother, Merton (Janet) Osborne of York, SC. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Cecil Osborne and two sisters, Gertrude Perkins, Marguerite (Gussy) Stratton. A memorial service will be held at the Panama United Methodist Church at a later date and time to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home.
