Obituary of William B. Vine

William B. "Bill"/"Billy" Vine, 81, of High Acres Bemus Point, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 18, 2016 in his home. He was born March 2, 1935 in Jamestown the son of the late Louis H. and Ethel Conklin Vine. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1952 until 1956. After returning home, he worked at Marlin Rockwell Corp, Crawford Furniture, and for 28 years at Jamestown Metal Corp., retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Falconer Moose; the VFW; and for 40 years the Henry Mosher Post #638 American Legion in Falconer. Bill enjoyed bowling and woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Ann Hitchcock Vine; two sons, Tim (Jody) Vine; John (Lori) Vine; a daughter, Carol (David) Vine Yarde; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Adam, Alexis, Chelsea, and Shannon; two great grandchildren, Marshall and Seth; two brothers, Howie R. (Norma) Vine; Roger M. (Virginia) Vine; two sisters, Florence M. Crawford; Carol A. (Paul) Vakoutis; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Vine; a brother, Frank E. Vine; and a nephew, Anthony F. Vine. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday May 22, 2016 in the Lind Funeral Home. Jason W. Claydon, pastor of Peace Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday (one hour prior to the service) in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Peace Wesleyan Church, 126 W. James Street, Falconer, NY 14733; the American Cancer Society; or to a charity of one's choice.
