Obituary of Josephine E. Morgan

Josephine E. "Jo" Morgan, 94, formerly of 126 Huxley St. Jamestown, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. An area resident for most of her life, she was born March 3, 1922 in Dunkirk, NY a daughter of the late Vincent "Jimmy" and Frances Delpopolo Spina. She was a 1939 graduate of Dunkirk High School Before her retirement she was employed as a clerk for the former Bigelow's Department Store in downtown Jamestown where she worked for 20 years. She was very proud of her years working in the custom drapery department at Bigelow's. In earlier years she had worked for the former VanRaaualt Company in Dunkirk, NY and later in her retirement years had worked for the former Carnahans Men's Store in Jamestown. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. Surviving is a son, Richard A. "Dick" (Maria) Morgan of Waynesville, NC, six grandchildren, Richard A. Morgan, Jr. of Hamburg, NY, Michelle L. (Matt) Wahrenburg of Peoria, IL, Kristen R. Williams of Matthews, NC, Dr. David P. (Beth) Martin 0f Arlington, MA, Lisa Martin of Kenmore, NY, Bridget Martin of St. Augustine, FL, five great grandchildren, Hunter Wahrenburg, Madelynn Williams, Harrison Williams, Eli Martin and Riley Martin. Also surviving is a close family friend and caregiver Jerry Conti. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Peter R. Morgan whom she married July 4, 1940 and who died July 2, 2004, a son Rocky V. Morgan who died January 8, 2009, a brother, John Spina, two sisters, Santa Speziale and Angela Castle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday in Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 pm Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 pm Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Social Services Foundation, 715 Falconer St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
