Obituary of Jeffrey Scott McKoon

Jeffrey Scott McKoon, 55, of 3 Maple St. WE, died Friday, July 22, 2016 in his home following a battle with cancer. He was born May 3, 1961 in Jamestown, a son of the late Conrad R. and Shirley Stitler McKoon. A 1979 graduate of Jamestown High School, he then served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 until 1984. Jeff had been employed by Harmony Industrial, Visu Craft, Bush Industries and more recently, Colecraft in Jamestown. He was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Assoc. and the DAV, and was a huge fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He had a passion for riding his Harley and also enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. Jeff is survived by his wife, the former Ginger Emerson, whom he met on a blind date in 1985. They were married August 12, 1989. Also surviving are two sons, Ryan McKoon of Celoron and Clayton (Jessica Lowe) McKoon of Erie, Pa.; his pride and joy, grandchildren Conrad McKoon of Jamestown and Kyleigh McCormick of Erie; two brothers, Richard McKoon of South Carolina and Michael (Tina) McKoon of Jamestown; two sisters, Deborah McKoon of California and Connie (Garry) McKoon of Busti; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Conrad in 2008; his mother, Shirley in 2005; and his mother-in-law, Rita Burnheimer in 2014. A celebration of Jeff's life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, 9 Chadakoin Pkwy., Celoron. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, N.Y. 14750.
