Obituary of Frederick R. Bentley

Frederick R. "Fred" Bentley, 65, of 3 Appleyard Place, Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 9:42 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital. Fred was born July 1, 1951 in Flushing, NY a son of the late Richard S. and Helen G. Delsorbo Bentley. Before his retirement in 2015, he was employed by SKF Aero Engine, Inc. where he was a machinist for 36 years. He will be remembered as one who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, watching NASCAR races and was an avid fan of the New York Mets and the Buffalo Bills. Surviving are his wife, Linda M. Haney Bentley whom he married February 23, 1980, two sons; Richard A. (Melissa) Bentley, Patrick J. Bentley, three grandchildren; Lacinda Bentley, Alauna Bane, Brennen Bentley all of Jamestown, his adopted son; Robert (Bobbie Jo) Brown and his children, Zane, Lillian and Quentin Brown of Charleston, SC, a brother, Thomas (Linda) Bentley of Longwood, FL, three sisters, Diane Reale of Sebastian, FL, Cecelia (Nathan) Garfinkle of Long Island, NY, Donna Bentley of Jamestown as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother in law Joseph B. Reale who died July 11, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
