Obituary of Dian J. Piazza

Dian Jo (Pisa) Piazza, 68, of Gerry, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2016 surrounded by family and friends in her home after a two-year battle with colon cancer. She was born March 12, 1948 in Silver Creek, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Jean (Cuccia) Pisa. She was a 1966 graduate of Silver Creek Central High School and attended SUNY Geneseo. In 1969, Dian married Warren Piazza and moved to Gerry, NY. They had two daughters and raised a grandson. For many years, she was a stay-at-home mother and devoted her life to her immediate and extended family and friends. More recently, she was employed by Willcare. Dian had an extremely caring nature and had a wonderful ability to connect with people. She had an open heart and loved others unconditionally. She welcomed all into her home. She made sure they felt accepted and were well fed. Dian was very artistic. She enjoyed crocheting, drawing, and gardening. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and passed on many family traditions, including spaghetti dinners on Sunday. Surviving are husband Warren Piazza; 2 daughters Marla (Andrew) Piazza Siegel of Westchester County, NY and Nichole (Gary) Segrue of Lakewood, NY; grandson Drake Piazza of Gerry, NY; her mother Jean Pisa Wollenschlaeger of Rochester, NY; grandchildren Sydney, Sophia and Rosemary Segrue and Layne Siegel; 3 sisters Cindy Zielinski of Fredonia, NY, Claudia (Mark) Pisa-Brewer of Farmington Hills, MI and Mary Beth Wollenschlaeger of Kenmore, NY and two brothers Anthony (Denise) Pisa of Rochester, NY and Joseph Pisa of Silver Creek, NY. She leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends, including Glenn and Bonnie Marsh of Gerry, NY and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Pisa. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Dian loved children.
