Obituary of Dorothy I. Rexford

Dorothy I. "Dottie" Rexford, 89, of 5480 Broadway, Bemus Point, died Monday September 26, 2016, in Buffalo General Hospital. A native of King, PA, she was born September 25, 1927, a daughter of the late Oscar and Grace Gochnour McCreary. She was employed by Lion Manufacturing, Everett, PA as a factory worker and also worked at Snyder Dairy Farm where she sold milk. She came to be known as Chocolate Milk Grandma. After the closing of Lion Manufacturing she moved to Bemus Point to live with her husband Phil. Dottie and Phil enjoyed visiting family in Bedford County. She spent time working crossword puzzles, crocheting, gardening and playing bingo. She loved her grandchildren. She was a member of Bemus Point United Methodist Church and was a social member of Maple Springs Volunteer Fire Department where she helped with bingo, turkey parties and the Labor Day fund raiser. Surviving are two sons John (Beverly) Dugan and Roger (Erika) Sirko; three step daughters Mary Lou (D.K. Harriman) Ranney, Roxie Jurkowski and Nancy (Tom Stanton) Price; five grandchildren Jeff, Jodi, Karen, Lori and Michael; five step grandchildren Mark, Jennifer, James, Christopher and Nicholas; fifteen great grandchildren and a sister Helene (Earl) Ickes. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Rexford, whom she married July 9, 1977 and who died March 20, 1998; siblings Mary Feather, Freda Mae Grasser and Harry McCreary and a son-in-law Ray Jurkowski. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnmnet will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
