Obituary of Robert M. Carlson

Robert M. Carlson, 87, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday October 23, 2016, in WCA Hospital. He was born in Jamestown on January 26, 1929 to Carl L and Dorothy Palmgren Carlson. He lived all his life in Jamestown and graduated with honors from JHS, served from 1953 until 1955 in the US Army, and graduated with high honors from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL. With concern for the welfare of others, he had a long and distinguished career as a financial counselor with the Chautauqua County Welfare Department. Always a scholar, he loved good music and good books, and could converse at length on a wide variety of topics. He was a long time member at Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was active in choir. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Sucher, of Perham, MN, and by his brother, Donald, of Roseville, MN, as well as by a host of nieces and nephews, and their families. He will be missed by many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday October 26, 2016 at Tree of Life Parish- Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev.Tara Eastman, Pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
