Obituary of Randall M. Bloomquist

Randall M. Bloomquist, 66, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016, in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born July 13, 1950 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Sherwood W. "Toey" and Marian S. Johnson Bloomquist. He was a 1968 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned his bachelor's degree from North Park College, Chicago, IL in 1972. Before his retirement in 2010, he was employed as an estimator for Lake Shore Paving, Inc. since it's inception in 1998. He had previously worked for the former Scalise Paving Company for 24 years. Randy was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Ingjald Lodge # 65 Independent Order of the Vikings, where he served on the house committee, and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved to follow his childrens and grandchildrens many activities. He was an avid supporter of the Jamestown High School football and wrestling programs for many years. He also loved the times spent with family and friends at the Viking Lodge. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Rebecca C. "Becky" Johnson Bloomquist, whom he married June 17,1972, his three children, Matthew A. (Gina) Bloomquist, Jamie M. (Jill) Bloomquist both of Jamestown,Shannon C. (Chris) Baglia, III of Falconer, NY, eight grandchildren, Alexa J. Bloomquist, Aric J. Bloomquist, Cole M. Bloomquist, Grayson B. Bloomquist, Drew T. Bloomquist all of Jamestown, Bryce J. Baglia, Ellyson B. Baglia, Collyns J. Baglia all of Falconer, a sister, Karen (Lance) Erickson of Templeton, CA and his aunt, Joanne Lundgren of Jamestown. He is also survived by his two favorite dogs, Millie and Charlie, who were his constant companions. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey L. Bloomquist who died October 1, 1999. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Nagle, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Viking Lodge Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
