Obituary of C. Richard Seiberg

C. Richard Seiberg, 88, of 120 Aldren Ave., formerly of 118 Livingston Ave., passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at UPMC Chautauqua WCA. He was the husband of Joann Nelson Seiberg, whom he married June 18, 1955. Dick was born November 18, 1928 in Jamestown, the son of the late Carl A. and Bertha Anderson Seiberg, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In earlier years, he was employed by the former Art Metal Corp. followed by B & E Electric. He later worked a number of years for CARTS. Dick was raised in and was married at Bethel Lutheran Church in Jamestown, where he served as a council member and Sunday school teacher. For the past 14 years, he had been a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was recognized at Hillcrest for his efforts in having anonymously written notes of encouragement to men of the church experiencing notable challenges and life changes. He was a member of the Vikings and the Viking Male Chorus. He was also a charter member of the Jamestown Harmony Express barbershop singers, as well as its Silvertones Octet. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Joann, surviving is a daughter, Paula Morningstar of Jamestown and son, Dale (Susan) Seiberg of Bedford, NH; two grandchildren, Kira (Andrew) Morningstar Nordquist of Phoenix, AZ and Casey Morningstar of Sugar Grove, PA; three step-grandchildren, Adam Ohlin, Laura George and Justin Ohlin; and five step great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by a son, Craig N. Seiberg in 1990; and a sister, Betty S. Cross. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark J. Hinman will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
