Obituary of David L. Seely

David L. Seely, 74, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. He was born May 10, 1942 in Warsaw, NY, a son of the late Graydon and Ina Safford Seely. He was a 1960 graduate of Jamestown High School and also attended Jamestown Community College. From 1960 to 1964, David served in the U.S. Navy with duty aboard the USS Ashland. In earlier years, he operated the former Crossroads Mobil Station at the corner of 6th and Main Streets in Jamestown. He then owned and operated Dave's Classics, formerly known as Crescent Motors. Dave was a member of the Antique Car Club of America, the VFW, War Vets Recreation, Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion and the USS Ashland Alumni Association, where he enjoyed attending reunions. Dave was always very proud of his family and its ancestry. He enjoyed automobiles, aircraft and music. Surviving is his companion of many years, Sharyl Solsbee of Jamestown; a daughter, Valeri (Michael) Tingue and two grandsons, Erik and Nicholas Tingue, all of Jamestown; a sister, Carol Ellis, brother, James (Martha) Seely and sister, Kathryn (John) O'Hagan, all of Jamestown; an aunt, Ruth Lindblad of Jamestown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles, including George Lindblad and Fred Safford. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Christ Chapel of Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Natalie Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, they request memorials be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005; or to a charity of choice.
