Obituary of Darwin W. Lundsten

Darwin W. Lundsten, 85, passed away Tuesday January 31, 2017 at his home in Frewsburg. He was born July 26, 1931 in Jamestown the son of the late Andrew and Emma Hagstrom Lundsten. Darwin was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Jamestown Perforators for many years. He was a member and past Assistant Chief with the Panama Fire Department. Darwin and his wife Lois enjoyed square dancing and were founding members of the Penn-York Campers Square Dance Club and members of the Chautauqua Squares. Following retirement, Darwin and Lois traveled throughout most of the United States. Surviving are his wife of over 60 years, the former Lois Holmberg; four children: Barbara (R. Craig) Hughes of Lakewood; Jane (Michael) Collins and Judy (Kevin) Parker both of Sugar Grove; David Lundsten of Ashville; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Glen Lundsten; and four brothers, Roger, Carl, Robert, and Gerald Lundsten. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 4, 2017 in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Nancy Schwanke, of Hessel Valley Lutheran Church will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, 166 Hessel Valley Road, Chandler Valley, PA 16312.
