Obituary of Pollyanna Morrison

Pollyanna Morrison, 89, of 145 Chandler Street, formerly of Greenhurst Village, died Tuesday January 31, 2017, in the Lutheran Retirement Home. An area resident all of her life, she was born September 4, 1927, in Villanova, a daughter of the late Leslie and Lila Clement Wright. Dedicated and hardworking, Pollyanna was employed at the young age of 14 at a local farm. She later worked for South Dayton Canning Factory, Sherman Brothers Furniture, Truck Lite for 30 years, Ames Department Store and lastly at Tops in the bakery, retiring at age 76. She was a longtime member of the former Kennedy Baptist Church and then attended Fluvanna Community Church. God was always very present in her live. When she could not attend Sunday service, she would watch one on TV. She was loved by all who knew her. Her personality was infectious and her smile would brighten every room she walked in. Saying she will be greatly missed is an understatement. She was known for her green thumb. Her flower gardens were immaculate. She would work for hours until ever weed was pulled and every rock was it's right place. The beauty of her roses will be greatly missed by her grandchildren. All animals were equal in her eyes. She loved feeding her birds and leaving out treats for her beautiful crows. Even the squirrels and chipmunks were always taken care of. She was a master of the arts. If it wasn't painting or drawing, it was cake decorating or crocheting. Her family will remember her most for her cooking. Her baked beans, potato salad, pies and fudge will never be replicated. Not only for their incredible taste but for the joy she shared in cooking a meal for her family. Surviving are two children Walter (Julie) Heilman, Jr. of Kennedy and Bonna (Stewart) Westerlund of Jamestown; three grandchildren Lynn (Mike) Classon of Jamestown, Patrick (Kristy Oldham) Heilman of South Carolina and Samantha (Frank) Alemar of Oneida, NY; three great grandsons Tyler, Ryan and Alex Classon of Jamestown and two great step granddaughters Skyler and Melina Alemar of Meriden, CT. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband Charles Morrison, Sr., whom she married March 27, 1970 and who died August 30, 1978; a son Eugene Heilman April 9, 2010; a daughter Gloria Radspinner December 15, 2012; a sister Irene Heilman and a brother Charles Wright. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
