Obituary of David L. Godwin

David L. Godwin, 68, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie. David was born in Meadville, PA, to Doris (Salhoff) Godwin and Raymond Godwin. After his father's death in 1954, the family relocated to Eden, NY. David graduated from Eden Central High School in 1966. He went on to attend Alfred University, graduating with a degree in Ceramic Engineering. Throughout his career, David worked at McClellan AFB, Sacramento, CA; Westinghouse Corporation, Fairmount, WV; and later Martin-Marietta Aerospace in Orlando, FL. David loved all things "scientific." He loved dogs and the great outdoors Surviving are his sons James Godwin (Afton Wilson) of Jamestown and Martin Godwin (Krissy) of Frewsburg, NY; six grandchildren: Kieran, Riley and Declan Godwin of Jamestown and Madison, Logan and Brayden Godwin of Frewsburg; sisters Linda Szemer (Godwin) of Wylie, TX, Melanie Jeter (Farnham) of Wylie, TX and Suzie Paul (Farnham) of Charlotte, NC and brothers Michael Farnham of Chesapeake, VA and Bradley Farnham of Lodi, OH. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles including a special uncle, Harry Godwin of Beckley, VA and former wife, Shirley Godwin Leyman of Kennedy, NY. David was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Doris Godwin (Farnham) and step father Merlin Farnham. A celebration of life will be held starting at 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of his son Martin Godwin, 820 Ivory Road, Frewsburg.
