Obituary of Everett H. Hallberg

Everett H. Hallberg, 92, of Greenhurst, NY, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born March 31, 1924 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Harold H. and Minnie Sundberg Hallberg. Everett was a graduate of Jamestown High School and attended St. Bonaventure University. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1943 to 1946, with duty in Guadalcanal. He was employed by Hope's Windows for 42 years, beginning his career in Drafting and retiring as Regional Sales Manager. Everett was baptized, confirmed and was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church. He sang in the choir for nearly 40 years and also served as a Council president and Property Committee Chairman for many years. He was a man of faith, a true gentleman, and loving family man. He enjoyed traveling and visiting with people. He will be deeply missed by his many relatives and friends. Surviving is a son, Jeff (LaVonne) Hallberg of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Bradley (Keri) Hallberg and three great-grandchildren, Cole, Piper Grace and Emma Rachel Hallberg, all of Fort Mill, SC; and a grandson, Jason (Kelly Ormond) Hallberg of Montgomery, AL. In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Johnson Hallberg whom he married January 31, 1948 and who died January 17, 1991; and a son, Gary A Hallberg who died in 1995; as well as a brother, Roger Hallberg and infant sister, Nancy Hallberg. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel K. Nagle will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the church Saturday. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St.; The Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St.; or American Red Cross, 325 E. Fourth St.; all Jamestown, NY 14701.
