Obituary of Carl H. Swanson, Jr.

Carl H. Swanson, Jr., 93, formerly of 170 Indiana Ave., died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born April 16, 1923 in Jamestown, the son of the late Carl H. and Bertha Swanson, Sr. and was a World War II veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945 in Luzon, New Guinea and the Philippines. For over 40 years, Carl owned and operated Carl H. Swanson, Jr. Engineering and Drafting Supplies which he began in 1957. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, as well as the Odd Fellows where he held several positions throughout the years. Surviving are two sons, Craig H. Swanson of Jamestown and Carl H. Swanson, III of Panama, NY. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Johnson Swanson whom he married September 11, 1948 and who died May 6, 1998; and two sisters, Eunice Johnson and Inez Josephson. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan W. Anderson, pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 904 W.
