Obituary of Sara B. Vail

Sara B. Vail, 75, of 13 Winding Way, Lakewood, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in UPMC Chautauqua WCA after a brief illness. She was born on June 2, 1941 in Tortorici, Sicily, a daughter of the late Anthony and Maria Foti Bevacqua. She came to Jamestown in 1949 with her family. She was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School. For over 40 years she was a real estate broker, most recently, with Century 21 Turner Brokers before retiring in February 2017. In earlier years she had worked as a cosmetologist. Sara's greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. There was nothing she wouldn't and didn't do for them. Sara also dedicated much of her time to helping others. She was a member of Creche, Lakewood Women's Club and its Bridge Club and the Jamestown Bridge Club, WCA Auxiliary, and ACS CAN (American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network). Surviving are her beloved husband of 53 years, Richard, whom she married Sept. 2, 1963 and; a daughter Elizabeth (George) Ciancio; a son Michael (Ericka) Vail; four grandchildren: Madeline Ciancio, Jenna, Addison, and Eloise Vail; a sister Nina Triscari; and three brothers Sebastian, Russell, and S. James Bevacqua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 in St. James Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 5:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790 or Creche Inc., PO Box 601, Jamestown, NY 14702-0601
