Obituary of Marian L. Soldano

Marian L. Soldano, 82, of 4679 Lawson Rd., Jamestown, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving family and her dog "Molly". A lifelong area resident, she was born July 1, 1934 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Vento Santamaria. In earlier years she was a crossing guard at Fletcher Elementary School for several years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and was always concerned that everyone had enough to eat. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Angelo Soldano whom she married November 7, 1953 in Washington, DC, her four children, Darlene M. Soldano, Cheryl A. (Alfred) Gullotti, Angelo (Lisa) Soldano, Jr. all of Jamestown, Craig S. Soldano of Busti, six grandchildren, Ashley Haglund, Kevin Haglund, Chad (Jenna) Gullotti, Melissa (Shane) Johnson all of Jamestown, Steven A. Soldano, Spenser A. Soldano both of West Palm Beach, FL, seven great grandchildren, a sister, Jean LaPlaca of San Jose, CA, and her constant companion, her dog "Molly". Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Nicholas and Vincent Santamaria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 8:45 p.m. Monday.
