Obituary of Richard Bowman

Richard R. Bowman, 88, of 3596 Woodhaven Drive West Ellicott, passed away Sunday March 12, 2017 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 2, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY the son of the late LaVern and Florence Hiller Bowman.

Prior to retirement, Richard worked at Niagara Mohawk for 36 years. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood and a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Richard enjoyed traveling to Florida, monitoring anything related to the weather, watching all sports, and in his youth, being outdoors with his brothers. He was deeply devoted to his family and loved spending time with them.

Surviving are four daughters: Kathy Bowman (Steven Howie) of Jamestown; Donna Bowman (Bob Henion) of Dunedin, FL; Mary Beth (Bill) Sterk of West Palm Beach, FL; Diane (Lenny) Krombel of Wichita Falls, TX; two sons: Richard (Esther) Bowman of Perry, GA; Steven (Janet) Bowman of Jamestown; 10 grandchildren: Dena Dahlquist, Dustin (Megan) Dahlquist, Dan Dahlquist, Timothy Krombel, Tony Krombel, Justine (Tim) Coleman, R. J. Bowman, Brittany (Chase) Weidman, Allissa Bowman, and Jacob Bowman; one great grandson: Dane Dahlquist; two sisters: Sandra Alessi of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Gwendolyn Kearney of Anderson, SC.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marie Cali Bowman who died December 3, 1999; four brothers: LaVern Bowman Jr., John Bowman, Calvin Bowman, Robert Bowman; a sister: Jeannette Geist; and an infant sister: Peggy Bowman.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
