Obituary of Stephen P. Fardink

Stephen P. Fardink, 48, of 140 Franklin Street, Lakewood, died Tuesday April 11, 2017, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA. He was born January 9, 1969, in Jamestown, a son of Stephen and Rebecca Brightman Fardink. He graduated from Panama Central School in 1987 and later graduated from Jamestown Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice and completed his training at the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Academy. Steve started his career in law enforcement in 1990 as a seasonal navigation officer with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department finishing that year as a part time officer with the Lakewood Busti Police Department and full-time in 1991. He became a Sergeant in 2008 and retired in 2013. He was a member of the SWAT team and had graduated from Instructors School, was a firearms instructor and a field training officer. Following retirement he worked for the Chautauqua County Court System. He was a member of Lakewood Moose Lodge and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and following the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Surviving besides his parents of Ashville is his wife Pamela Pitts Fardink, whom he married July 11, 1992; two sons Justin Fardink and Brandon Fardink; a sister Christine (Brent) Hall of Lisle, NY; three nephews and eight nieces. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harold and Helen Fardink and maternal grandmother Phyllis Jones. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Busti Church of God. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
