Obituary of James T. Laughlin

James T. Laughlin, Jr., 72, of 38 Chambers St. Jamestown, formerly of Frewsburg, NY, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the home of his daughter in Coral Springs, FL. A lifelong area resident, he was born June 29, 1944 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late J. Thomas and Dorothy Viola Johnson Laughlin. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1965 to 1967 while being stationed at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Before his retirement he was the Assistant Director of Grounds and Maintenance for Jamestown Community College, where he worked for several years. He was a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion and the Warren, PA Moose Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Jodi (Bryan) Clerkin of Coral Springs, FL, a son, Richard " Rick" McMasters of Apopka, Fl, a grandson, Ethan Clerkin of Coral Springs, FL, two sisters, Pat Hand of Frewsburg, NY, Mary (Benjamin) Lewis of Kiantone, NY. He was also a wonderful uncle and mentor to his five nieces and nephew. Besides his father who died in 1979 and his mother who died in 1983, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Florien "Mona" Carlson Laughlin whom he married May 20, 1983 and who died November 23, 2011. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and time to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY.
