Obituary of Norman N. Kilby

Norman N. Kilby, 89, of 101 Hedges Ave. Jamestown passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born May 20, 1928 in New Albion, NY, a son of the late Elton L. and Zana Neiman Kilby. Norman was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from December 9, 1946 to December 18, 1949 during World War II. Before his retirement he was employed by Hopes Windows where he worked for 45 years. Following his retirement he enjoyed cooking and canning fruits and vegetables and working in his garden. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are a step-son, Richard (Mayra) Morton, a step-daughter, Linda (Bruce Brightman) Morton both of Jamestown, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Wilma Jean Ladlee Kilby whom he married May 13, 1965 and who died May 31, 1999, a step-daughter, Norena Arters, a granddaughter, Melody Wells, four brothers, Marion Kilby, Robert Kilby, Merle Milks, Cleo Milks and three sisters, Minnie Dieter, Bessie Dechow and Alma Oakes. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday (today) in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
