Obituary of Karen E. Papaserge

Karen E. Papaserge, 67, of 149 Maple St., passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 in UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital. An area resident for most of her life, she was born April 22, 1950 in Kane, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank M. and Ruth J. Andersen Moran. Karen was a 1968 graduate of Southwestern Central School. Before retirement she was employed at ASB Enterprises as a manager. She was a member of Lily Dale Spiritualist Church and was a member of the Kiantone Fire Dept, where she was a volunteer fireman, served on the auxiliary, and was a bingo chairman for over 20 years. There were many things she took pride in and enjoyed. One was being a foster parent for many years and also her love for animals. She was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed playing bingo and slots at Seneca Allegheny Casino and also in Las Vegas. Karen is survived by her husband, Sam Papaserge, whom she married May 10, 1986; a son Bruce (Wendy) Atkins; a daughter Lizzi Papaserge; a stepson Tom (Krystina) Papaserge; several grandchildren; a sister Sherry (Jim) Hanson; three brothers: Niels Andersen, James (Maria) Johnson, Jerry (Ann) Moran; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Shawn, Mike, and Richard Moran. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Maynard will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12 to 2 and 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
