Obituary of Kenneth G. Rounds

Kenneth G. Rounds, 49, of 15 Ellis Avenue, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. A Jamestown native, he was born April 29, 1968, the son of William F. Rounds and the late Constance "Connie" Smith Rounds. He was a 1986 graduate of Jamestown High School and 1990 graduate of SUNY Fredonia, spending most of his senior college year studying at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. After graduation from SUNY Fredonia he began a French teaching career in New England. A short time later, he decided that teaching might not be for him, and changed his goals to pursuing his art and computer interests. Eventually, he was employed by KPMG LLP as Art Director of Graphic Design, working in New York City, Boston, and San Francisco. He earlier had worked in graphic design and advertising at KPMG as well as for the accounting firm of PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC). Ken was a gifted artist who sang, played piano, organ, and violin, as well as composed music and wrote poetry. He served Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church as music director and also worked with some Catholic churches in this area as choir/music director, and wrote and performed several Sunday masses. Surviving are his father of Jamestown; partner Daniel McCue of Jamestown, daughter Hanna Wortkoetter of Meadville, PA; and four aunts; Kay (Larry) Weisbrod of Busti, Donna (Ronald) Tefft of Nags Head, NC, Candace Love of Jamestown, Judith (Gene) Capron of Randolph; and many loving cousins too many to list. He was preceded in death by his mother Connie Rounds on February 7, 2015, as well as his grandparents in earlier years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 24, in Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, 385 South Main Street, Jamestown. Reverend Carolyn Stow, MSW, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date. Per Ken's wishes, in lieu of flowers, he would be honored if you would like to plant a tree in his name or make a donation to Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue Nebraska City, NE 68410.
