Obituary of Carl A.G. Westerlund

Carl A. G. Westerlund, 82, of 5427 Button Valley Road, Ashville, passed away Tuesday June 20, 2017 in the home of his son Edward. He was born June 2, 1935 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Carl E. and Hanna Greta Westerlund of Sweden. Carl was a veteran of the US Army. For 42 years, he was employed at the former Chautauqua Hardware Corp. Following retirement, he worked 15 more years at Chautauqua Mall. He was an active member of the Church of Christ for many years. Carl was loved by everyone he met and was well respected in the community. Surviving are a son, Edward D. A. (Darlene) Westerlund of Ashville and children, Teara L. A. Westerlund and Grant J. E. Westerlund; and a son, Stewart K. J. (Bonna) Westerlund and children, Samantha L. Alemar, Dena R. A. Marseglia, and Kristen A. M. Tschupp. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy L. Derby Westerlund whom he married November 3, 1957 and who died October 8, 2003; and a grandson, Jess C. A. Westerlund who died January 13, 1981. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Watts Flats.
