Obituary of Katherine Cooper

Katherine Cooper, 95, of 418 Grubb Hill Rd., Kennedy, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Ludlow, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Maria Studena Maziar. She was a 1939 graduate of Cherry Creek High School. Along with husband Jeff, from 1944 to 1967 they owned a private cattle trucking business, and from 1964 to 1995 they owned and operated Jeff Cooper Farm Equipment Sales and Service. She was a member of the Kennedy Grange since 1959. Katherine was an avid bowler, enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, winning awards in baking at the New York State Fair. She loved her kids and entire family very much. Katherine is survived by a son, James Cooper of Kennedy, a daughter, Cheryl (Fred) Wetzel of Mays Landing, NJ, a son, Charles (Colleen) Cooper of Lancaster, NY; a daughter in law Brenda Cooper of Kennedy; nine grandchildren: Sabrina Howell of NC, Ryan Cooper of Kennedy, Megan Meiss of Randolph, Jennifer Cooper of Kennedy, Jessica Cooper of Nashville, TN, Scott Ulland of Mays Landing, NJ, Andrew Cooper of Williamsville, NY, Stephanie Cooper of Orlando, FL, Stephan Cooper of Clarence, NY; five great grandchildren: Carter Cooper of Kennedy, Lauren and Ava Ulland of Mays Landing, NJ, Aiden and Logan Cooper of Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff D. Cooper, whom she married July 25, 1942, and who passed away April 5, 1996; a son Edward Cooper, who passed away Jan. 5, 2007; a sister Anastasia Sillman; and two brothers Michael and Eugene Maziar. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Todd M. Remick, pastor of St. Mary Of Lourdes, Bemus Point will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
