Obituary of Steven D. Marchincin

Steven Marchincin, 55, passed away on Sunday, Jul. 2nd doing one of the things he loved - taking a walk in the sunshine. Steve was born on Aug. 12th, 1961, the son of JoAnn (Waite) and Steven Marchincin of Jamestown, NY. He was loved deeply by his wife, children, family, friends and colleagues. He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Dowd) Marchincin, who he married Aug. 2nd, 1986. They recently celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary. He was a loving and caring father to his two children, Matthew Steven Marchincin and Stephanie Lynn Marchincin. Steve was a 1980 graduate of Jamestown High School and began his design career at Hope's Architectural Products in Jamestown, NY. He cultivated many close friendships while employed there. He was a partner of LRK Design Group in Erie, PA for over 23 years, designing countless buildings throughout the United States for the New Apostolic Church. Traveling for his work exposed Steve to many styles of architecture, which were used in some of his local projects, including the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club in Lakewood, NY and the chapel at Mission Meadows in Dewittville, NY. Steve worked with Affordable Log Homes, designing many log homes in our area as well as several homes in the Chautauqua Institution. Steve owned SDM Landscape and Design and used his experience as a landscape architect to plan and install beautiful landscapes that complemented his building designs. Steve loved including his wife Pam in his landscaping projects. Steve had many interests. In his early years, he enjoyed stock car racing at Stateline and Holland Speedways. Steve was an avid fan of baseball and coached his son and daughter's baseball and softball teams. Those he coached respected him and the players looked forward to the end of season picnic. He enjoyed going to car shows and recently restored a 1971 Dodge Charger. Steve's greatest love was traveling to Walt Disney World with his family, which provided them with countless memories. Steve always said he went for architecture and design inspiration, but those of us who knew him realized the love was much deeper: it was a place where the family could relax and enjoy being "kids" together. Steve was confirmed at First Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the church council and an usher for many years. He was a member of the property committee and was instrumental in the Nave restoration. He was also a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Steven Marchincin on Apr. 15th, 1985. He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Marchincin, two brothers, Edward Marchincin of Russell, PA, Perry (Michelle) Marchincin of Rochester, NY and his sister, Betty (Bob) Hedstrand of Busti, NY. He is also survived by his niece, Samantha Marchincin and his nephew, Shane Marchincin, both of Rochester, NY. A celebration of Steve's life is scheduled for Saturday, July 8th at First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler Street in Jamestown, NY. Friends and family will be received at 10am with a service to follow at 11am. A catered lunch and celebration of his life will follow the service.
