Obituary of Patricia K. Giordon

Patricia "Pat" Hurley Giordon, Stillwater Road, Sugar Grove, PA, age 85, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017, surrounding by her family. Prior to moving into the home of her daughter, Barbara, in 2010, she lived on the North Road in Sugar Grove for almost 60 years. She was born September 22, 1931, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Andrew and Ilona (Helen) Guzi Hurley. After Pat attended schools in Bridgeport, CT, New York City, Pittsburgh, PA, and Lottsville, PA, she graduated from Panama Central School, Panama, NY in 1949. After high school, she waitressed at the BiState Ice Cream Company (BICO), Jamestown, NY and Marino's Restaurant, Warren, PA. She retired from Park Laundry, Jamestown, NY, in the 1970s. On September 9, 1950, she married the late Richard (Dick) Giordon in Jamestown, NY. They were married almost 59 years when Dick died on April 25, 2009. In 1952, they moved to a farm on the North Road in Sugar Grove, PA, where they together raised 7 children: Daughters: Kathleen (Ronald) Irwin and Barbara Senske of Sugar Grove, PA and sons: Peter (Donna) Giordon and Daniel (Sarah) Giordon of Jamestown, NY; Richard (Candy Unger) Giordon and Andrew (Betty) Giordon of Sugar Grove, and Thomas Giordon (deceased on July 28, 2002). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren with another great granddaughter expected in August, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister, Mary (Robert) Davis, Lakewood, NY, and a brother, Joseph Hurley, Jamestown, NY. Also surviving is a lifelong friend, Irene Turck, Jamestown, NY, with whom they shared many a laugh. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, she was preceded by brothers William Hurley and Francis Hurley. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Snows Roman Catholic Church, Panama, New York, and was one of only 2 surviving original members of the Mothers and Daughters Club now known as the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling in area ladies and couples leagues. In the 1980s, she and Dick enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with friends, the late Phyllis and Joseph Camarata. A favorite pastime of Pat's was reading. Although the Sugar Grove Free Library was her last frequented library, she fondly remembers the New York City Public Library with its thousands of novels as if it was challenging her to see how many of these books she could read. The family will receive friends at the Lind Funeral Home, Jamestown, NY on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Snows, Panama, NY. at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Father Piotr Zyczynski will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Lottsville Cemetery, Lottsville, PA.
