Obituary of Eugene T. Danielson

Eugene T. Danielson, 86, formerly of 165 Aldren Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 21, 1931 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Elmer G. and Mary Matson Danielson. Gene was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1951-1955. He was assigned to the Air/Sea Rescue and transferred to the Air Defense Command, S.A.C, in Omaha, NE being honorably discharged having attained the rank of Staff-Sergeant. Before his retirement in 2011, he was the house manager for the Jamestown Community College Sheldon House, for 30 years. In previous years he worked for the Cinemette Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA, as the manager and operator of several Jamestown theaters. He had also served as the manager of the Chautauqua Institution Bookstore, was the office manager for Ken Strickler, Inc. and in early years was employed by the former Art Metal Inc. Gene was a member of the Ingjald Lodge # 65, Independent Order of the Vikings, the Roger Tory Peterson Institute and a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 10, Buffalo, NY., the local union for stage hand crews. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Scott (Amy) Danielson of Norfolk, VA, Gregory Bryan (Jodell Ann Ceci Gane) Danielson of West Ellicott, two grandchildren, Max Danielson, Olivia Danielson both of Norfolk, VA, two sisters, Delia (Robert) Sarro of Webster, NY, Diane (William) Carlos of Greenhurst, NY, and a brother, John Gunnarson of N. Tonawanda, NY. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. No visitation will be observed.
