Obituary of Frederick A. Haley

Frederick A. "Fred" Haley, 84, of 198 Hopkins Ave, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at home peacefully in the night. He was born Nov. 18, 1932 in Busti, a son of the late Ernest and Irene Smith Haley. Fred was in the National Guard from 1950-1955 and was a member of Henry Mosher Post #638, American Legion Falconer. Fred worked at Hopes Windows, Dudley Waters, Johnson Whitmyer, and JS Auto Supply. When he retired, he was self employed doing plumbing and heating. Fred enjoyed playing cards and Texas Hold'em on the computer, playing cribbage with his friend Jack and up to recently when his health became worse, he enjoyed visiting the workers at Jamestown Bronze for a lunchtime social. He was an avid deer hunter and was able to enjoy sharing the hunting experience with his grandson Tyler. Fred is survived by his wife, Sally, whom he married Oct. 31, 1970; his daughter and son in law Amy and Jamie Tonkin of SC; his son Charles Haley of Jamestown; three step daughters Dawn (Tim) Logue-Snyder, Dorean Logue-Monchilovich, and Kim (Tony) Gray; a son Kenneth Haley; three daughters Sally McGee, Becky McCall, and Cindy Briggs; two sister in laws Dolores Haley and Ruth Haley; 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Gens; four brothers Clyde, Robert, Chester, and Allen Haley; two sisters Ethel Spencer and Emma Prine; and a niece Sandra Koerselman. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help defer expenses.
