Obituary of Susan M. Christensen

Susan M. Anderson Christensen, 78, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 3:57 a.m. Monday August 28, 2017, with her daughter Jerri by side, with whom she made her home. She was born June 29, 1939, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Clyde and Helena Gas Card. Susan was employed by Monitor Furniture and Sterlingworth. Prior to her retirement in 2011, she worked for Fenton Park which became Heritage Park for a combined 27 years as a nurse's aide and later as activity attendant. She loved her patients as if they were her own family and cared for the with kindness, compassion and her own gentle touch. She loved her children with all her heart. She was very loving, caring, hardworking, compassionate, gentle, kind, giving and a comical person willing to help those in need. She enjoyed all family gatherings, traveling, sightseeing and loved her dog Flipper and Pomeranian dogs Mickey, Duke and Sonia. A well loved mother, friend, grandma and great grandma, her life mattered to everyone who knew her. She will be sadly missed. Her battle with dementia and Alzheimer's was the start of her decline and eventual demise. She will always be in the hearts and memories of all who knew her as a wonderful person. Surviving are five children Darlene (James) Riolo, James (Pam Ingerson) Anderson, Donald (Cindy) Anderson, Pamela (Brian Rochord) Snyder and Jerilyn Anderson; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and five step children. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband David Anderson May 23, 1975; second husband Donald Christensen January 9, 2015; a grandson James "Jimmy" Riolo September 30, 2014; two sisters Helen Snye and Alma Johnson and a brother Clyde Card. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Gerald A. Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
