Obituary of Makalah R. Lounsbury

Makalah R. Lounsbury, 20, died unexpectedly Tuesday August 29, 2017, in the Town of Ellicott. She was born August 11, 1997, in Westfield, a daughter of Joseph and Deborah Hawkins Lounsbury. She was a 2015 graduate of Portville Central School and had attended Jamestown Community College. She had been employed by Sam's Club as a cashier. She volunteered at James Prendergast Library and also 2nd Chances Thrift Store where she was named Junior Volunteer of the Year in 2014. Makalah was born smiling and her smile could light up a room. She had a wonderful personality and was a real people person especially with the elderly. She will be remembered for her compassion, generosity and thoughtfulness to all. She loved her family and her dog Buddy. Makalah is best described by the following statement: She is a beautiful soul and now will fly and be free of sadness, making it possible to shine her beauty over us all. She is now at peace, free of her struggles and pain. Surviving besides her parents of Ashville are siblings Rebekah Lounsbury of Jamestown, Matthew (Jill) Short of Buffalo, Jason Short of Falconer, Timothy Short of Lakewood, Bryan (Amanda) Eldridge of Dalton, NY, Katheryne Eldridge and Brittney Eldridge both of Dalton and Raychael Palmer of Nunda, NY; grandmother Joyce Hawkins of Dade City, FL and several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by grandparents David Hawkins and Daniel and Ileen Lounsbury. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
