Obituary of Jennie M. Sampson

Jennie M. Sampson, 86, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7, 2017 surrounded by her family in the home of her daughter. She was born March 13, 1931 in Busti, the daughter of the late Victor and Mollie Waite Lund. Jennie was a 1949 graduate of the former Lakewood High School. She had been employed at Spectrum Eyecare and in earlier years at T. James Clarke Box Co. She was a lifetime active member of the Busti Church of God, having served as treasurer and pianist for the Sunday School. Jennie enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flower gardens. Her family was her greatest joy. She lived for her family. Surviving are three daughters: Nancy (Tom) Keefe of Lakewood; Debbie (Charlie) Pryde of White Plains, Md.; Sandra (Tim) Desmond of Lakewood with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren: Lisa Price (James) of Flemingburg, Ky.; Amanda Fritzges (Kurt) of Frederick, Md.; Shannon Lydon (Danny) of Hughesville, Md.; Nick Pryde (Karina) of White Plains, Md.; Katie Desmond (Jason Kowalewski) of Washington, D.C.; Kane Desmond (Jennifer) of Lakewood; Korri Zaharie (Brandon) of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; ten great grandchildren: Mallory and Camden Price; Kenley Fritzges; Aubree and Cali Lydon; Ava and Claire Zaharie; Myles and Ian Kowalewski; Finn Desmond; a sister: June Bigelow of Portland, NY; and a sister in law: Priscilla Lund of Busti. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood A. Sampson whom she married December 27, 1952 and who died July 16, 2015; and two brothers: Gordon V. Lund and Vinson K. Lund. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home prior to the service at 4 p.m. Teresa M. Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
