Obituary of Sylvia L. Huber

Sylvia L. Huber, 81, of 2759 Bentley Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born March 19, 1936 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Dawson Smith. Before her retirement she was employed by the Resource Center as a special care aide for several years. In previous years she had worked for Kaczar Brothers, the Hartford Insurance Company and the former Jen's News and Lunch. She had been a member of the John W. Tiffany Post 53, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the War Vets Recreation Club. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family during family gatherings, especially the Christmas holiday. She also loved shopping and boating on Chautauqua Lake. Sylvia was a very outgoing social person and anyone the met her fell in love with her strong spirit and shining personality. She certainly made the most of her life and enjoyed every second of it. Surviving are her children, Sherry Johnson; Sarina (Ed) Thomas, Joseph (Danielle) Mazzone, III all of Jamestown, David Huber of Frewsburg, NY, 13 grandchildren; Joseph, Nathan, Nicholas, Katie, Michael, Rickey, Ashley, Levena, Gregory, Benjamin, Steven, Katy and Amy, 10 great grandchildren; Blake, Spirit, Charles, Hunter, Gracelyn, Dylan, Ashley, Chloe, Miles and Evan. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Huber whom she married July 30, 1982 and who died November 6, 2010, two sons; Steven J. Mazzone, Michael E. Mazzone and three brothers; Irwin "Dingy" Smith, Kenny Smith and Stanley Smith. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Huber will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Susan B. Komen Fund, 742 Deleware Ave. Buffalo, NY 14209
