2017-322 (Do not delete this line. It does not print. Text that is to appear on web must be entered after this line)« William A. Osthagen, Jr., 93, of Tanglewood Manor, formerly of Carlson Rd. Jamestown, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of his life, he was born June 22, 1924 in Teaneck, NJ, a son of the late William A. and Hermine Jansen Osthagen, Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving from March 2, 1943 to January 3, 1946 serving time in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. Before his retirement he was a machinist for the former Bausch & Lomb Company in Jamestown. Bill was a member of the Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion and the Mt. Moriah Lodge 145 Free and Accepted Masons. Survivign are a son, William E. Osthagen of Foley, AL, a grandson, William E. Osthagen, Jr. of Mayville, NY, a step-grandson, Daniel P. Townsend of Foley, AL and three nieces, Becky Greenfield , Barbara Benedetto both of Jamestown and Pam LeClair of Clearwater, FL. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Helen Waterman Osthagen who died May 29, 2016. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
