Obituary of Richard J. Manuelle

Richard J. Manuelle, 76, of 157 Newton Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born July 27, 1941 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Razio and Margaret Rizzo Manuelle. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January 27, 1964 to January 24, 1966 during the Vietnam War. Before his retirement he was employed by the Marlin Rockwell Corporation, now SKF Bearings, for over 40 years where he was responsible for maintaining the safe operation of the machinery throughout the facility. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St John Catholic Church and a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion. He will be remembered as one who had an engineer's mindset. He loved tinkering with things and figuring out how things worked. He was well known in the neighborhood for decorating his house with Christmas lights and also his scary animated halloween decorations. He also enjoyed taking care of his many fish aquariums throughout his house. Surviving are his four children; Dawn M. Manuelle of Lakewood, OH, Mark J. Manuelle of San Antonio, TX, Matthew M. Manuelle of Jamestown, NY, Thomas R. Manuelle of Ft. Worth, TX. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Bonnie L. Ross Manuelle whom he married May 25, 1968 and who died December 16, 2015 and an infant brother, Samuel Manuelle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
