Obituary of Gary W. Gauggel

Gary W. Gauggel, 64, of 203 Niagara Ave., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 following an extended illness.

An area resident all of his life, he was born on Nov. 11, 1953 in Jamestown, a son of the late Robert Sr. and Joan Kiefer Gauggel Stanton.

He was a 1971 graduate of Southwestern Central School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force where he suffered a service related disability.

He enjoyed collecting swords and coins. He had a love for animals and will be remembered as very caring and generous and helped others who were down on their luck.

Gary is survived by his dad Ray Stanton; his wife Jody S. Bostaph Gauggel; a daughter Rayshell Gauggel; two stepsons Jamey Nobles and Shannon (Holly) Nobles; a sister Shari (Gary) Rowe; a brother Robert (Mary) Gauggel; a sister Marcia (James) Frangione; several nieces and nephews; and an "adopted son" and caregiver Peter Samuelson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Kiefer Gauggel Stanton, in 2014.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 in the Lind Funeral Home where full military honors will be conducted by the Jamestown Vietnam Veterans. The Rev. Jim Witherington will officiate.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.

A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Jamestown Vietnam Veterans (VVA), 41 Bigelow St., Jamestown.
