Obituary of James L. Sandwall

James L. Sandwall, 75, of Bemus Point, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 in his home. A lifetime resident of Bemus Point, he was born Dec. 21, 1942 in Jamestown, a son of the late Carl H., Sr. and Bertha C. McIntyre Sandwall. He was a graduate of Maple Grove High School and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Before retirement, he was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation for 35 years as an equipment operator, retiring in 1996. James was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post 8647 in Mayville and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. His granddaughter Shelby was very close to his heart. James is survived by his wife of 26 years, Vera C. Auge Sandwall, whom he married Aug. 30, 1991; two daughters: Teresa (Jeff) Adams of Fredonia and Karen Doebele of Tampa, FL; two sons: Benny (Diane) Graham of Lottsville, PA and Robbie (Kim) Graham of Rock Hill, SC; two brothers: Carl H. Sandwall Jr. of Bemus Point and Gerald G. (Martha) Sandwall of Germany; and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. A private service and visitation will be held at the convenience of the family in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
