Obituary of Ortha E. Georgakis

Ortha E. Georgakis, 70, of 808 Prendergast Ave., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 in UPMC Chautauqua WCA after a lengthy and courageous battle with an illness. She was born Sept. 7, 1947, in Carthage, NY, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Leona Jutzi Widrick. She attended SUNY at Geneseo graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970. She attended Fluvanna Community Church and First Covenant Church of Jamestown. She was a lover of nature, and a kind and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Ever the optimist with a smile for everyone. Ortha is survived by her husband, Anthony Georgakis; a son Andrew (Amber) Georgakis of Warren, Pa; a daughter Sarah Nordblum of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Avery and Isaac Georgakis, Alexis Nordblum; seven siblings: J. Ronald (Mabel) Widrick of Allentown, Pa, Clifford (Kay) Widrick of Turin, NY, Douglas (Cydee) Widrick of Mannsville, NY, Rodney (Katy) Widrick of Adams, NY, Cynthia Beutel of Adams Center, NY, Brenda (Jim) Richer of Wauseon, OH, Terry Widrick of Sandy Creek, NY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Robert Widrick. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
