Obituary of Dorothy R. Minati

Dorothy R. "Dottie" Minati, 93, formerly of Edith Ave. and Tanglewood Manor, passed away Friday January 19, 2018 at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born December 26, 1924 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Wayne and Dorothy Peebles Rightmyer. Dottie attended Jamestown High School and for many years worked as a sales associate in the paint department at Sears. In earlier years, she worked at the former Jamestown General Hospital. She was a member of the Busti Church of God, and volunteered at the Audubon Society, Roger Tory Peterson Institute and the Ashville Library. Dottie was an avid reader and had her own lending library for family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, counted cross stitch, and was famous for her Brown Bread at Christmas time. Surviving are a daughter, Valerie Fairbanks of Longmont, CO; a grandson, Wayne R. (Carole) Johnson of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Stephanie (Thomas) Johnson Lackey of Fairdale, WA; a sister, Brenda (Lawrence) Peterson of Lakewood, NY; two nieces, Heather Gordon of Windsor, NY; Heidi Stenander of Jamestown; a nephew, David Peterson of Stockton, NY; and a cousin, Dianne Bourque of Florida. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard M. Johnson who died April 14, 2015. The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Roy E. Ferguson will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
