Obituary of Janet B. Gordon

Janet B. "Jan" Gordon, 84, of 329 Baker St., died unexpectedly Saturday, February 17, 2018 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. A Jamestown resident since 1966, Jan was born October 9, 1933 in Bangor, ME, the daughter of the late Boyd and Annie Hanson Burton, and earned her Bachelor's degree from the Baptist Missionary Training School at Colgate Rochester Divinity School. For over 25 years, Jan was a 911 dispatcher for the City of Jamestown. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and formerly The Judson Fellowship. Jan's family and friends were her greatest priorities and gave her an abundance of joy & happiness. Surviving are three sons: Michael B. (Lizel) Gordon, Sr. of Jamestown, William A. Gordon of Jamestown and Jeffery D. (Heidi) Gordon of Frewsburg; two step-children: Nancy Gordon of Jamestown and S. Scott Gordon of Frewsburg; six grandchildren: Allison Gordon, Michael B. Gordon, Jr., Daniel Gordon, Carter Gordon, Ryan Gordon and Emma Gordon; and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael A. Gordon; stepson, Robert Gordon, Jr.; and a brother, Dr. Blendin L. Burton. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donald E. Ray officiating. Friends will be received in fellowship hall of the church following the service Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of choice.
